Embroidered Baby Gift Sonya: Personalized Blanket
"This is a big day for the baby and
family - if you're the lucky godparents or
friends/family, we won't steer you wrong if you're
looking for a super-thoughtful baptism
gift."

"Baptism" Personalized Blankets Personalized Baby Blankies
Sonya: Baby Blankets
"Once meant "naming ceremony" where a child would
receive their Christian name. But, that was back in my
day. Now it is used interchangeably with the word
"Baptism."

|
Dedication:

An act or rite of
dedicating to a divine being or to a sacred
use. Personalized Blankets

Sonya: Personalized Baby Blanket
"Baptists and
some other Christian religions hold a ceremony to
dedicate a new baby to God. This ceremony is in lieu
of an infant Baptism. Godparents aren't selected.
But, dedication gifts are sometimes given - but don't
worry, we can help you out with that
part."

Woven
Cotton: Baby Blanket
|
The art of hand or loom
weaving cotton yarn into blankets. Similar to knitted
materials. Personalized Blankies Personalized Blankie

"I have
knitted since I was a little girl sitting on the porch
with my grandmother, so when it comes down to baby
blankets, only the best will do. Woven blankets are the
classic bed and Baby Blanket made from different types
of yarn. They can differ in softness, texture, and
quality of cotton yarn." Personalized Blankets

Satin
Trim /
Satin
Edges: Personalized Baby Blankets
|
A
poly-satin fabric used along the edges to bind the baby
blanket. Baby Blankie Baby Blanket
Sonya: Personalized Blankets
"All of our blankets come with a 2" satin border.
It's a little-known-fact that babies just adore satin.
They really love the cool smooth feel of the satin on
their skin, especially across their face. Though, be
weary of blankets with solid satin backs. Too large an
area of satin is easy to tear and rip after
days/weeks/months/years of use." Personalized Baby Blankies

Bamboo:
|
Bamboo produces
threads that are not only soft, but breathable,
absorbent, and fast-drying. Used with cotton for
extremely soft
blankets. Personalized Baby Gifts Sonya:
"One of my
favorite Baby Blankets, the "Sonya's Favorite" Breezy
Baby Blue is made of a cotton-bamboo blend. Who
woulda thought we'd be using bamboo for a baby
blanket?!"

|
Combed
Cotton:
|
Cotton yarn that
has been cleaned with wire brushes to remove short
fibers and other impurities. Not a type of cotton but
rather a process cotton fibers are put
through.
Sonya:
"Soft
woven-cotton material with a fuzzy surface. When you
see 'Combed Cotton' you know it's going to be
soft."
|
|
Chenille:
|
Chenille is not a
particular fiber, but rather the structure of
fiber.Silk, rayon, cotton or
wool combined and tufted creating a velvet like pile.
Soft and luxurious to touch.
Sonya:
"This is a
great material for Baby Blankets assuming the
following: its made of cotton (natural fibers are
always better than synthetic rayons fibers) and it is
machine washable. Our 'Stefan's Chenille' baby
blanket is a cotton machine washable Baby Blanket but
is seasonal because of its weight."
|
Egyptian
Cotton:
|
A fine, lustrous,
long staple cotton grown in Egypt.
Sonya:
"One of
those terms that you don't always know what it means,
but you do know it means 'soft.' Used in the 400ct.
Baby Blanket."
|
|
Pima Cotton:
|
A type of cotton
plant developed in the Southwestern USA from a cross
between Egyptian and Uplands cotton which is longer
in fiber length and more lustrous than most American
cottons.
Sonya:
"It's makes
a really great classic softness when woven. Our
'Oskar's Oxford' is a favorite around here due mostly
to the classic oxford weave with Pima Cotton yarn. It
has a slight sheen to it because of the Egyptian
Cotton fibers."
|
Fleece Baby
Blanket:
|
Generic term for insulating material
made from spun polyester.
Sonya:
"Fleece is
a common material in jackets and blankets because it
keeps you really warm. But, it's not recommended for
Baby Blankets for several reasons. First, because it
keeps you so warm, it can leave babies too hot under
this synthetic material. And second, it must be
treated with flame retardant chemicals because of the
polyester its made with. We don't use this
inexpensive material also because it piles (fuzzy
surface balls up) and because it's not high-quality.
We want to be sure we're proud of every Baby Blanket
we send out."
|
|
Minky Baby Blanket:
|
A new microfiber fabric soft to touch and
made of synthetic fibers. May come with flat surface or
textured (raised dots being the most
popular).
Sonya:
"Sure, it's the new trend - minky Baby Blankets.
But, as I always say, trends fade for a reason. Not
only does it seem like everyone has this Baby Blanket
right now, but it isn't the classic Baby Blanket that
baby Joey would sneak into his duffle bag as he moves
away to college in 18 years. All of our Baby Blankets
are 100% woven cotton because that's how I've always
knitted blankets for the newest member of the
Bebeblankee family."
|
|
Receiving Blanket:
|
A lightweight
blanket used to wrap a baby especially after a
bath.
Sonya:
"A
receiving blanket is great to use around the house
and they're inexpensive enough to have multiples.
But, because of the t-shirt-like material, they're
not recommended for the baby's "carry around, crawl
on, sleep with, drag around, cuddle with, use
day-in-day-out, and take to preschool baby
blanket."
|
|
Crib Blanket:
|
Similar in concept to an
adult's comforter - made of any material - it's
typically longer on one side than another to use in a
crib.
Sonya:
"These can be anywhere from 30" x 40" to 45" x 55."
Though they're a great size for a one or two year old
to use to cover with at night, a smaller blanket is
best for carrying around. Our Baby Blankets are 30" x
30" to cover a newborn, but not too big to carry around
when the little ones begin to crawl. Many babies will
get covered with a crib blanket, but cuddle with their
"crawl around with" Baby Blanket."
