Its the final countdown to the 2009 Texas State Fair! Corndogs, livestock, your child’s smiling face (and running feet from the sugar high), and rides, rides, rides.

I had found this even online at the Dallas Morning News website and told a co-worker about it. She was looking for something to do with her daughter over the weekend and came back telling me she had a great time at the Dallas Children’s Theater seeing “Click, Clack, Moo:Cows that type.”

Afterwords, they hopped on over the Purple Cow diner in the Preston Royal Shopping Center and had a Purple Cow Milkshake.

Sounds like a Moo-velous time!

Dallas Sculpture museum is free this weekend! So pack up your blankie and head out for some artistic fun.

This aquarium is so extensive that its holdings include a number of interesting and precious land creatures as well as familiar sea animals. In addition to 12 salt-water tanks, each holding a distinct eco-system, there is also a new rain forest exhibit featuring newly born howler monkeys and other land creatures. Word on the sixth floor is the aquarium has been renovated for the maximum family experience.

If you love the gingerbread man who is chased by all those wanting to eat him, you’ll laugh at the cheese man whom everyone runs away from because he smells so awful. Check out the fractured-fairy-tale world of The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fair(l)y (Stoopid) Tales, presented by Casa Mañana Children’s Playhouse. The musical was adapted from the award-winning picture book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith that also features silly twists on Jack and the Beanstalk, The Ugly Duckling, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.

One of my favorite blogs to follow is the Chicago Moms Blog. Here she talks about how her sweet and mystified little one wants magic for Christmas and even though every year they have managed to give her exactly what she requests, this year is going to be a real let down unless she can unlock the secret to finding magic that is deliverable in a box…

Magic is something that can be pretty ordinary. It is typical of society to over-hype magic and ferries just like beauty and and this so called American dream.

I think your right in setting her up for realistic expectations but at the same time I would motivate her to look at the real “magic” or miracles that go on from day to day. I like to think of rainbows, birds that seem to be a bit too close but precious, flowers that bloom in the oddest places, murals that have come from the heart but are on the side of a building… simple things we take for granted but hold such beauty.

My mom never took the magic out of my life and those days that I am walking through the park with my dog and I see a dragonfly weaving in and out of the trees…I think of ferries!

Nutmeg is a girl of my own heart so this is the blanket I would make for her:

On my daily stroll through ‘web world’ I ran across this site that I am sure your creative side will love! Its called Blue Flombingo , she cleverly stole the name from her son who I am sure was glad to help. All you Scrapbooking lovers will be thrilled to know that your hobby is now created and shared on the web and it called DigiScrapping. WOHooo!

So if your feeling frisky go check her out and get started with one of her free kits. All you do is download it from the site and start digitally snipping away. I thought it was a great idea and I salute the creative taste of all the mom blogsters I run across.

One of my favorite mommy blogs is Frogs in my formula. I wanted to share with you the story about how her child’s receiving blanket was a hand towel and that you can never expect what will happen when you become a parent.

“I’m a very responsible person. The only time in my life I have been grossly unprepared was when I went into labor.”

“All afternoon I kept thinking about that little yellow hand towel. Maybe, deep down, I knew the uncertainty that lay ahead and maybe that towel was a metaphor. Maybe I knew that no matter how much I prepared, I’d never be…prepared.”

I’m sure you will all be excited to know that we will be adding a few more blankies to our roster for the fall.
